Our Client, a leading international supplier of Turbomachinery, requires an Application Engineer – who will be responsible for developing & preparing technical solutions & commercial quotation proposals for re-rating equipment re customer requirements. Providing technical & commercial support for the promotion of the business including strategic initiatives. Interfacing with engineering & operational groups in the development of proposal information & material & assisting in creating promotional material.

Requirements:
|
|
|
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) & at least 4 years relevant experience.
- An extensive understanding of thermodynamic & aerodynamic concepts as related to performance of turbomachinery including steam turbines, heat transfer, gas properties, efficiency, head, work, etc.
- Application & design knowledge of both steam turbines & compressors as well as their related auxilliaries (i.e.: motors, gears, lube systems, etc.).
- Ability to understand & balance inter-relationship between price, performance, delivery, & reliability when selecting/designing a unit.
- Good verbal & non-verbal communication skills re preparing proposals, conducting meetings, answering sales/customer questions & writing technical papers /articles/procedures.
- Ability to understand & balance internal cost structure, market value, & margin goals re pricing a project.
- Design/analytical skills in the application /design of bearings, seals, materials, thermal & dynamic stress & strain, rotor dynamics, etc.
- Computer skills including Sin & IBM networks, application programs, Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.

Additional Information:

|
|
- Role will involve travel, to support sales in presenting proposals to customers & answering technical questions, participating in pre-contract meetings, attending trade shows to present papers, participate in discussion groups, (approx 8-12 trips year, 2-3 days duration)
